Uptown Maumee -- Kicks off to the Holiday Season
The Holiday Light Parade is an annual event that takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. This event is sponsored by the Maumee Uptown Business Association and the Maumee Chamber.
Come up at 5:15 pm. and watch the Holiday Hustle a 5K and there is also a fun walk as well. Between the race and the parade the Uptown Streets will be filled with musical entertainment, and other fun activities. Once the parade route is cleared (Around 6:15 p.m.) the Light parade will start at the corner of the AW Trail (Rt. 24) and Ford Street. The route turns on West Wayne Street and goes 6 blocks up to Conant Street. At this point it is the home stretch. The 300, 400 and 500 Blocks of Conant Street are alive with crowds of kids both young and old waiting to see the up to 60 lighted floats and the man of the night SANTA.
Hint: Great Viewing with less of a crowd is on Wayne Street with the same rewards.
At the end of the Parade, Santa will get off his float and go into the Maumee Indoor Theater (601 Conant) and spend time with all of the girls and boys that would like to see him.
Hint: This is a great way to get that picture with Santa. (Both young and old)
